We serve the Greater Hudson Valley and Upstate New York. Include the project address on the quote form and our office will confirm.

How does getting a quote work?

1. Inquiry: send your project details on the quote form, by email or by phone. 2. Review: our office looks at your plans, specs, photos and scope and follows up with questions. 3. Proposal: pricing is prepared once the details are confirmed. 4. Installation: work is scheduled after the proposal is approved.

How much does flooring cost?

Every project is priced by our office after reviewing the details, like material, size, site conditions and plans or specs. The fastest way to get pricing is the quote form.

What should I send for a quote?

Plans, specifications or photos if you have them, the material you want, the rooms or areas and the approximate square footage. You can upload files on the quote form or email them to office@flooritus.com.

LVP, hardwood or tile: which should I choose?

LVP looks like wood, is very water resistant and easy to maintain, great for kitchens, basements and busy homes. Hardwood is real wood with a warm look and can last for decades, best in living rooms, bedrooms and dry areas. Porcelain or ceramic tile is very hard wearing and waterproof, ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, entryways and lobbies. Carpet is soft, warm and quiet for bedrooms, offices and family rooms. VCT is a tough commercial tile for corridors, schools and retail.

What is the best floor for a kitchen, bathroom or basement?

Kitchen: LVP or porcelain tile. Bathroom: porcelain or ceramic tile, or waterproof LVP. Basement: LVP, since it handles moisture better than wood. Every space is different, so our office confirms the right product for your project.

What is a mud job?

A mud job (mud set or mortar bed) is when tile is set on a thick bed of sand and cement mortar instead of thin adhesive on a flat board. It is the traditional method and is great for leveling uneven floors and building slopes, like shower floors pitched to a drain.

What is thinset?

Thinset is a cement based adhesive used to stick tile to the floor, spread with a notched trowel in a thin layer. Large format tile usually needs a special large and heavy tile mortar.

What is a subfloor?

The subfloor is the structural layer under your finished floor, usually plywood or a concrete slab. It has to be flat, solid and dry before new flooring goes down.

What is the difference between SPC and WPC vinyl?

SPC has a rigid stone and PVC core, making it very stable, dent resistant and waterproof. WPC has a foamed core that feels softer and warmer underfoot, but it is less dent resistant.

What is engineered hardwood?

Engineered hardwood has a real wood top layer bonded to a plywood or composite core. It looks like solid hardwood but is more stable with humidity changes, so it can go over concrete or in basements.

What is VCT?

VCT (vinyl composition tile) is a durable, budget friendly 12 inch tile used mostly in commercial spaces like corridors, schools, retail and break rooms.

How much extra flooring should I order?

Most jobs need about 5 to 10% extra material for cuts and waste, and around 15% for diagonal, herringbone or complex layouts. Keeping a spare box is useful for future repairs.

How do I take care of my new floors?

Sweep or vacuum often, wipe up spills quickly, use a damp (not soaking) mop with a cleaner made for your floor type, and put felt pads under furniture legs. Always follow the manufacturer's care guide.
